Which theorist believed that the ego”wore a mask, or persona “?
THIS IS THE BEST ANSWER ๐
This theory was Carl Jung.
A nineteenth-century analytical psychologist, Carl Jung developed several studies in the field of psychoanalysis focusing on the relationships between conscious and unconscious and personality types.
According to Jung, everything we do on the outside is related to the human archetype. Dealing with social control is a personality adjustment, an artificial way of pretending to be someone you are not. With that, some of our true personality is set aside, it’s like we wear a mask.
If our Ego begins to identify directly with the archetype of the Human we want to survive, we leave aside the other aspects of the true personality. Man is alienated from his true nature, beginning to endure a state of conflict between his Person and the parts of his true personality.
