Which was a problem confronted president carter as the 1980 election approached?
THIS IS THE BEST ANSWER ๐
Iranian Hostage Crisis
Mr Carter’s position was barely affected by his failed attempt to rescue the hostages – it was seen as a reasonable political blow even if the military planning and hardware caused some unrest – but it took another knock, and probably that it was fatal, when he suddenly announced later that the crisis that had kept him from the hustings of all those months was “manageable” and that he would be hitting the path of the campaign. The views heard among ordinary voters in cities and towns across the country were universally disbelieving. They had little controversy with his basic decision to fight for re – election – his ducking and weaving around him. Mr Carter was just another politician, and he removed most of the reason many people voted for him in another term.
As this sentiment spread among members of the Democratic Party, it produced the attempt to revolt against its renaming by a dissident Congress group and many of the party members who supported Kennedy in the primary schools.
