THIS IS THE BEST ANSWER 👇
Eratosthenes (276-194 BC) was a Greek mathematician and astronomer who performed a very close calculation of the actual circumference of the earth. He did this by observing the angle of the shadows in two cities during the summer solstice, and then performing geometric calculations that were the distance between the cities.
Oh, and besides math and astronomy, Eratosthenes was also a poet and a music theorist, as well as composing many with the field of study we call geography today. It was what we would call “polymath” (someone who knows all sorts of things) – or, something the Greeks called Πένταθλος (pentathlos).
