The Salt is a crystalline and ordinarily white substance, soluble in water and crackling in the fire. Its about sodium chloride, which can be found in seawater or in some solid masses. Salt is used as seasoning (to season meals) and for the preservation of meats.
For instance: “Please pass me the salt”, “This soup is very tasty, although it does need a little salt”, “The doctor told me that I do not have to abuse salt, since excessive consumption brings pressure problems”, “My daughter complained because, after entering the sea, she had a taste of salt in her mouth”.
There are many different types of salts. Thus, for example, there is common salt, which is the one commonly used in kitchens to give a different and tasty touch to any dish. And then there is also sea salt, which is that which is obtained directly from the seas.
In addition to all the above, it must be emphasized that in recent decades the salts used to take a bath have become fashionable. These are substances that are thrown into the water and whose clear function is to allow the person who enjoys it to relax, de-stress and take care of their skin at the same time.
Among the most recommended salts to achieve that aforementioned relaxation are rock salts such as the Himalayan or the Andean. They enhance their functions if they are also accompanied by other products such as jasmine oil.
Another type of existing salt is the one known as flor de la sal, which is the type of red foam that salt generates and that is later used for different uses within the field of medicine.
The Mineral salts are those inorganic molecules that, in living beings, can be found precipitated or dissolved. Being in water, these salts appear ionized. Different specific ions make the salts fulfill diverse structural functions in the body, such as the regulation of pH or the impulse of biochemical reactions.
In living beings, therefore, salts can appear precipitated, which means that they constitute solid structures. That is the case of silicates (like the bra in some vegetables), the calcium phosphate (which makes up the skeleton of vertebrates) and the calcium carbonate (used in arthropod shells).
Dissolved salts, for their part, are found in water and make it possible to control muscle contraction and intervene in osmotic balance, for example.
Another possibility is that salts appear associated with organic molecules, as is the case with phospholipids, the phosphoglycerides and the phosphoproteins.
Nor can we forget that there are various expressions that use the term salt and that we use frequently in our colloquial language. Among them they would highlight “putting salt in the head”. This is used to say that someone has been chastened because they need a bit of judgment and rationality.
