The meanings of peak They are very diverse, which means that we can find this word in different areas. On the one hand, it may be the top or summit of a elevation, especially when it ends in a tip. For example: “Reaching the peak of that mountain must be an arduous task”, “The Chilean mountaineer set a new record by reaching the peak in just fifty-three minutes”, “The researchers observed, with glasses, that a family of eagles settled on the peak of the sierra”.
A beak is also a point that emerges from some kind of surface or that is in the edge Of something. The concept, on the other hand, refers to the completion of a bottle or container that allows its content to be poured in a simple way: “Do not drink directly from the spout: here is a glass”, “The boy hit himself with the beak of the quill and injured his head”.
There is, on the other hand, a tool known as a beak, which has tips and is taken by a handle. The pick is used to break rocks or make holes in hard surfaces: “When I was young I worked in a quarry: I spent all day with the pick and shovel”, “Police believe the murder weapon may have been a pickaxe”.
The sum unknown or exceeding a round figure is also called a peak: “We spent two hundred or so pesos on drinks for the party”, “The price of the book was thirty-something, I don’t remember it precisely”.
In birds and other types of animals, the peak is the mouth. It is formed with the jaws and allows food processing: “Look how that bird takes the bread with its beak”, “The seagull carried a fish in its beak”.
Highest peaks in the world
It is the highest mountain in the entire planet, with its peak at 8,844 meters. It is located in the Mountain range Asia called Himalaya, which passes through the following countries: India, Bhutan, China and Nepal (the latter two find their border in the Himalayas). The name of this peak was chosen in honor of George Everest, a geographer and surveyor from Wales who carried out important studies; in Nepal it receives a name that can be translated as “the forehead of the sky”, while in China it is called “mother of the universe.”
This mountain also belongs to the Himalayas, more specifically to a section of it called karakorum mountain range, which is in the border dividing Pakistan and China. Regarding its height, it has nothing to envy Everest, since it stands at 8,611 meters and is considered the most difficult to climb. This difficulty, added to the fact that it is the second in number of deaths among the brave who dare to climb it, has earned it the nickname “the wild mountain”. Statistically, for every four mountaineers who attempt to climb this peak, one loses the life. It is worth mentioning that no one has climbed K2 in winter.
It is the third highest mountain in the world, at 8,586 meters high, in addition to being the highest in India and the second in Nepal. Its name, which can also be found as Kangchenjunga, Kanchenjanga and Kangchanfanga, among other versions, can be translated as “the five treasures of the snows”, due to the five peaks that compose it, four of which exceed 8,450 meters.
At 8,516 meters high, this peak is in fourth place worldwide. Since it is very close to Everest, many climbers have ignored it in pursuit of venturing to climb the latter. He currently owns a route on its west face and five on the south.
