Historical evolution made the Latin word I will hesitate came to our idiom What hesitate. This verb can be used with different meanings according to the context.

HesitateWavering may be the action of doubt, waver or falter. By example: “A forward must never hesitate if he is alone in front of the goalkeeper”, “When the mother asked him where he had gone after dinner, the young man began to hesitate”, “If you disrespect me again, I will not hesitate before hitting you in the face”.

Hesitation, in this context, is a state from doubt or from perplexity. Suppose that, in an exam, a teacher asks a student what is the capital of Nepal. If the student responds “Kathmandu” immediately, you will have answered without hesitation. On the other hand, if you start babbling and wandering around before answering, you are hesitating as you are not sure which is the correct answer.

The verb vacillating, on the other hand, may refer to that which moves without pause or what is shown unstable, with little firmness: “After the detonation, the building hesitated for a few seconds before collapsing”, “I hope the wind stops so the window stops wavering”, “The car is going to hesitate when cornering, but don’t worry: if you drive carefully, you won’t have any problems.”.

In the colloquial speech of some countries, to hesitate consists in realizing teasing or fool someone: “I think the boy hesitated when he told me that the road was in good condition”, “When I see Ernesto, I will hesitate because of the photo that was published in the newspaper”.

In relation to this last meaning that concerns us with the term we are dealing with, we can state that there are those who, as a tool to flirt, resort to vacillating the person they like. It is clear that it is not an effective technique, since each individual prefers some things and not others, but in many cases it is usually useful.

In particular, putting it into practice basically consists of drawing the attention of the other but not “giving” the ear with beautiful phrases, words of love or even with compliments, but quite the opposite. It consists of “teasing” him, in getting his attention without showing that he wants to flirt in order to avoid him being on the defensive and then, once he has been able to relax, proceed to develop the skills of seduction but without falling into clichés.

This hesitant flirting technique is considered to be a good option when trying to get people who are very emotionally successful and used to flirting.

In addition, we must also highlight the fact that many people make mistakes when writing the term at hand, since they confuse it with bacillary. However, they are different verbs. Thus, bacillary is the one used to refer to two aspects:
-On the one hand, within the scope of Medicine and Biology, it refers to everything that has to do with bacilli.
-On the other hand, in the field of geology it is used to refer to what is identified as having a texture in thick fibers.
