The concept of equity is linked to the Justice, impartiality and social equality. The gender, on the other hand, it is a class or type that allows to group beings that have one or more common characters.
Is known gender equality to the defense of the equality of man and the woman in the control and use of the goods and services of the society. This supposes abolish discrimination between both sexes and that men are not privileged in any aspect of social life, as was common a few decades ago in most Western societies.
Hence, we can establish, therefore, that for the aforementioned gender equity to take place, two specific and fundamental situations have to be produced or generated. On the one hand, there would be equal opportunities and on the other, the creation of a series of specific conditions so that the aforementioned opportunities can be taken advantage of.
In this sense, it must be emphasized that in order to achieve the aforementioned equity, different advances are being made in the vast majority of sectors of our current society. In this way we find, for example, the fact that in Spain it is advocated for there to be parity between men and women within what would be the political sphere.
Thus, it is interesting to note that one of the governments that strictly followed that principle was the one that had José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero as President, who was in charge of the country from 2004 to 2011.
Gender equity consists of standardize existing opportunities to distribute them fairly between both sexes. Men and women must have the same development opportunities. The ConditionTherefore, you have to ensure that resources are allocated symmetrically.
A woman should not get less than a man for the same job. Any person must earn what they own according to their merits and cannot be favored to the detriment of others. A man and a woman must receive the same remuneration for the same job that includes the same obligations and responsibilities.
This situation of equity must be achieved without neglecting the gender characteristics. Women, for example, are entitled to extended maternity leave, while paternity leave is shorter. In this case, biological issues are addressed and positive discrimination is made between both sexes.
In this sense, it is important to underline that there is precisely a non-profit organization called Gender Equity and that operates fundamentally in Mexico. It is an entity that bets and works at all times to achieve that equality between men and women while carrying out what would be the promotion of the rights of women.
In 1996, this civil organization was founded, which, among other things, carries out the proposal of policies that serve to achieve said equity, thus allowing women to participate and be present in all areas of our current society.
