In order to know the meaning of the term gallantry, we are going to discover, first of all, its etymological origin. In this case, we can state that it is a word that derives from French, specifically it is the result of the sum of two lexical components:
-The term “gaillard”, which can be translated as “robust man”.
-The suffix “-ia”, which is used to indicate “quality”.

It is called gallantry to bravery or courage to develop a action or face a challenge. The notion is linked to value, the dare and the verve. For example: “With gallantry, the young man reunited his family and told the truth”, “The gallantry of our people was demonstrated in the heroic acts of resistance against the foreign invasion”, “The government asked the opposition leader for gallantry to face the judicial process”.

Among the synonyms that exist of gallantry we can highlight some such as gallantry, bravery, freshness, vigor, gentleness, courage, grace or courage, for example. On the contrary, among its antonyms we can underline words such as ungraciousness, cowardice, inability or even slight.

GallantryGallantry is also associated with gallantry. Who is gallant behaves honorably, showing off his value. The opposite of gallantry is cowardice or cowardice.

Suppose a young man robs you money to his father to go out with his friends. The next day, his father accuses an employee who works in the house of the theft. The boy, despite his initial bad deed, now acts with gallantry and confesses to his father that it was he who stole the money.

One of the most common uses of the term that concerns us now is in relation to courage. A good example of this is that that word is included in the anthem of the Spanish Armada. Specifically, it is found this way: “The breezes blow serenely, the wave roars threats, my Spanish gallantry is crowned with smiles.”

It is a hymn whose lyrics were written by the Cadiz author José María Pemán (1897 – 1981), known for works such as “El divino impaciente” (1933) or “En tierra de no one” (1947). The music, meanwhile, was the work of Germán Beigbeder.

Throughout history there have been actors who have been praised for their gallantry, in terms of daring and gallantry. Among those we can highlight the Mexicans Luis Aguilar and Pedro Armendáriz, among others.

Gallardía is also the colloquial name given to the plants of the genre Gaillardia. These are species native to North America that stand out for their tolerance to drought.

The gallantry, which can be about two feet tall, has beautiful two-colored flowers and linear or lanceolate leaves. Its growth occurs quickly, with minimal care in a garden and in arid conditions in the nature. Due to these characteristics (fast growth, colorful flowers and scarce care), it is a very chosen species to decorate homes or public spaces.
