Brentwood, Long Island like many other areas now has turned into a suburban Mecca for crime. Other areas listed by the lady are not all ghettos. However the crime rate in Brentwood is higher than many inner city neighborhoods. Perhaps living in parts of Nassau County/Queens are safer. Brentwood schools are not good.

Try the 5 Towns, Long Beach, Roslyn, Commack, East Rockaway, oceanside, Islip, garden city, valley stream, rockville centre, west hempstead, and lynbrook schools.

Thre reason why Long Island and Upstate New York are experiencing a degradation in the quality of life and an increase in crime and “ghettoness” is due to the fact that NYC is and has been improving and many who left decades ago (white flight) to move to the burbs are having their children move back to the city. So, the city itself is improving as you can see with people moving into traditionally rougher areas and having them improve. A product of this is real estate becoming more expensive and pushing out the poor and the undesirables to cheaper locales (the suburbs, Long Island for example) where they continue to collect welfare and hustle honest people for a living.

This is a cyclical phenomenon in this region. The City will climax at some point and become too expensive that the middle class leaves and then the rich will follow as well to the suburbs and they will become nice as the city falls apart and becomces crime ridden (for more info, research what happened in the 70’s and 80’s in NYC)

I’m from Manhasset Ny but grew up in Freeport during adolescent. I don`t think there is a non ghetto town in Long Island. I’ve heard goood stuff considering safety in Brentwood

i grew up around that area near bayshore, its been a ghetto for the past 20 yrs i would say, the area has gotten worse over the past few yrs b/c people from nyc area are moving more out east on long island. But brentwood does not compare to nyc as far as crime, its not that bad a place

it is a good place…….in the morning/afternoon. at night its not so good. the school’s are bad. to much fights,drugs, etc. honestly, i cant wait till i move out of brentwood.
