They called his kingdom Wagadu, but we know Ghana, as the Arabs called it. The kingdom’s golden age began around 800 CE and lasted for almost three centuries. The capital of Ghana changed several times but the last and most famous of these was Kumbi (or Koumbi Saleh), a perhpas founded in the EC in the 4th century.
