Before entering fully to determine the meaning of the body term, it is necessary to establish the etymological origin of the two words that give it shape. In this sense, both come from Latin:
-Weight derives from “pensum” and this, in turn, from the verb “pendere”, which means “to hang”.
-Corporal is the result of the evolution of the Latin word “corporalis”, which can be translated as “relative to the body”. It is made up of two clearly differentiated parts: the noun “corpus”, which is synonymous with “body”, and the suffix “-al”, which is used to indicate “relative to”.
The force exerted by the planet Earth to attract bodies and magnitude from that force they are called weight. The concept, on the other hand, can be used to refer to the mass (the amount of matter that is present in a body).
Bodily is the adjective that refers to what is linked to a Body. Usually the term refers to the body of a human being.
With this panorama, we can advance on the definition of body weight. This notion mentions the amount of dough that houses the Body of a person. From this figure, it is possible to estimate certain characteristics about an individual’s health conditions, although body weight is not conclusive.
For example: if we say that the body weight of a man is 100 kilograms and we do not add any other data, we cannot draw any conclusions about its status. If it is a child of 12 years what does it measure 1.50 meters, said body weight reveals morbid obesity. On the other hand, if the body weight of 100 kilograms corresponds to a man of 25 years Y 2.05 meters high, it is likely that it is a healthy subject.
It is important that in order to keep body weight at bay, fundamentally in favor of health and aesthetics, several criteria must be taken into account that can alter that in a clear and forceful way:
-Foods with a lot of calories and fat. These should be minimized in any diet because they do not contribute anything good to the body.
-Lack of physical exercise. Leading a sedentary life is another reason why many people gain a lot of weight. Hence, it is advisable to carry out physical activity daily, even if it is to walk for half an hour.
-Hormone-type diseases. It is convenient that any person periodically undergoes a medical check-up and that is the way to detect any disease, among which are those of the hormonal class that will clearly increase their weight. Among these pathologies is, for example, hypothyroidism.
One of the most appropriate data to analyze the nutrition of a person is the body mass index, which links body weight (expressed in kilograms) and height. Its formula is: Body Mass Index = Body Weight / Height squared.
