A cardboard is a paperboard thin which is used for creation of posters, cards and other similar elements. The term comes from the Italian word cartoline, in turn derived from Latin chartŭla (which can be translated as “paper sheet”).
It can be said that cardboard is lighter and has greater flexibility than other types of cardboard, but at the same time it has greater resistance and thickness than paper conventional. What defines cardboard is its grammage (the number of grams per square meter), which is around 200 g / m2.
Cardboard manufacturing and use
The manufacture of the cardboard can be carried out in different ways. It is possible to produce card stock with recycled paper or with raw cellulose, for example, using one or more layers of the material.
