Can you define the following idioms?

Struggled with (telling or listening to) a story. It does not literally mean wrestling.

Was everything to him.
3. âŚhis hopes were very high.
His hopes arenât aerodynamic. This just means he was very hopeful.
4. win the mother over.
Winning the mother over is getting her on his side, getting her to support him, to believe in him, to get her convinced. (This one is hard to explain because I keep seeing more idioms in my explanation.)
5. âŚNobody was stirring.
Nobody is moving. Everyone is still. (And there is not a spoon in sight.)
6. took to the road.
He went on a journey. Taking to the road implies he might be a vagabond, or at the very least, a great traveller.
7. They were all moved.
They were moved emotionally. This does not mean they relocated. It means their emotions were deeply touched.
8. head for planning.
Her brain was especially good at planning. OrâŚshe was skilled at planning.
(This reminds me of that movie Working Girl, when Melanie Griffith (as Tess McGill ) says âI have a head for business and a bod for sin.)

1. Sailors were know for the stories they told in this idiom the sailor isnât sure whether the story is true or an exaggeration so he is thinking about it a lot.
2. This is a way of saying that Mary was everything that he needed in life, a friend, soul-mate. She was his emotional, physical and intellectual support system. She was everything to him.
3. âHigh hopesâ is a way of saying that this person has the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.
4. To win someone âoverâ is to persuade them to your side.
5. Nobody stirring is to say that no one was moving about.
6. âHe took to the roadâ would mean that he started to travel
7. âThey were all movedâ, means that everyone felt the same emotion whether it was sad or happy, everyone felt it.
8. Having the âbest headâ for something means that it is a talent that someone has, such as planning.

2. i need more sentences for this one as well. âall in all,â means âin totalâ or âfor the most part.â so to HIM, mary seemed a certain way to him, for the most part. example: âalthough it was scary in some parts, all in all, it was a good movie.â
